Looking for a new camera
I have been wanting to upgrade my digital camera for a while. Right now I have a Kodak 4.0 mega pixel with 10x zoom, it's okay but even with the sport shot the pictures can be blurry. So right now I am wondering what to upgrade to, I have thought about going up in mega pixels but have heard that having a DSLR are better, but are much more expensive. I have looked at Best Buy and not sure what I want but have read good reviews on a Nikon DSLR. I just don't want to carry around extra lenses and need a lightweight one to tote around. This is what I told Doug I wanted for my birthday, he told me to find one I like, and I only have a few days to do the research since b-day is fast approaching in five days. Somehow I am in charge of taking pictures of Eli's costume parade next week and these pics will go in his preschool yearbook (how cute), so they definitely need to be good. Not that I don't love my camera, we got it right before Eli was born, it is just sometimes the focus isn't always the best and the pictures are blurry. I also need one with an elevated flash so that I don't have to edit out the red eye all of the time, especially with Nic and his baby blues. Guess I have a lot of research to do the next few days, wish me luck.

Okay, here I am...again. I tried to post a comment(actually it was a book) earlier, but blogger wouldn't let me leave it. Anyway, I will try to make this short and sweet and hopefully informative.
If you are an avid photographer and know a little bit about cameras and their functions, go for the Canon or Nikon DSLR. I own the Canon. It fits well in my hands and takes a great picture.
If you like to take pictures but aren't sure how to work all the bells and whistles, Sony has just come out with a new DSLR - the 350, I think - and it is great too! I know a couple of people who have recently purchased it: one knows little to nothing about cameras and the other is a somewhat professional photog. The 350 has this really cool swivel screen to let you view your live pictures in LCD mode (much like your little point and shoot does now). The Canon and Nikon do not have this feature that I know of.
If you don't want to change out lenses and mess with all of that other stuff, but still want the quality of photos that the "big boys" produce, I would suggest the Canon S10. It is a glorified point and shoot; but takes some amazing photos.
My biggest suggestion to you is to go to the store and see which one fits best in your hands...and in your budget. Cameras are a great investment, so good luck! Hope this at least helped you narrow down your options.

Oops...made a mistake: the glorified point and shoot camera is a Canon Powershot SX10. I forgot the X (which believe it or not makes a big difference), my apologies : )
