Looking for a new camera

I have been wanting to upgrade my digital camera for a while. Right now I have a Kodak 4.0 mega pixel with 10x zoom, it's okay but even with the sport shot the pictures can be blurry. So right now I am wondering what to upgrade to, I have thought about going up in mega pixels but have heard that having a DSLR are better, but are much more expensive. I have looked at Best Buy and not sure what I want but have read good reviews on a Nikon DSLR. I just don't want to carry around extra lenses and need a lightweight one to tote around. This is what I told Doug I wanted for my birthday, he told me to find one I like, and I only have a few days to do the research since b-day is fast approaching in five days. Somehow I am in charge of taking pictures of Eli's costume parade next week and these pics will go in his preschool yearbook (how cute), so they definitely need to be good. Not that I don't love my camera, we got it right before Eli was born, it is just sometimes the focus isn't always the best and the pictures are blurry. I also need one with an elevated flash so that I don't have to edit out the red eye all of the time, especially with Nic and his baby blues. Guess I have a lot of research to do the next few days, wish me luck.
